I have designed some lovely new necklaces which feature inspirational words.

Words are so important.  Focusing on a word that is meaningful to you can act as a gentle reminder to keeping your thoughts on what is important, or a change you are hoping to make in your perspective.

Sherlock Holmes Bracelet

January 28, 2014

objects of devotion literary jewelry sherlock holmes 221b bracelet

I am adding some literary jewelry to my designs!  This 221b bracelet pays homage to everyone’s favorite sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, who resides at that address on Baker Street in London.

The BBC’s latest incarnation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s ingenious Sherlock is  brilliantly played by Benedict Cumberbatch.    Martin Freeman, is his unpretentious companion, Dr. John Watson. The two have a lovely chemistry and are delightful to watch!

It’s so important to count our Blessings.  This lovely new bracelet will remind you to do just that!

objects of devotion blessed bracelet

I started with a piece of copper pipe which I magically transformed into the base of this bracelet.  I added a beautiful patina to the back, giving it a vintage look.  “Blessed” on a pale greenish blue background, adorns the front.  Gorgeous frayed ivory recycled sari silk ribbons and hand-aged, hand-forged copper clasps enhance the old world feel of this treasure.

New Year Treasures

January 17, 2013

I have added some lovely new bracelets to my etsy shop.

They are an embellished version of a design I created last year using copper pipe and silk ribbons.

Each one is adorned with a word on which to focus.

It’s a perfect reminder of a resolution, an intention or perhaps a prayer.

Pretty pastel jewels and hand-aged copper wire surround each one.

You may find these treasures in my etsy shop, Objects of Devotion.

I wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Happy Christmas!

Serendipity in the Garden

September 5, 2012

As I glanced out the window, I saw this beauty fluttering softly back and forth across my garden.  I watched it for a few moments as it just seemed to float gracefully to and fro, not a care in the world.  Then it landed gently on a pretty pink rose.  My next thoughts were wondering if I could actually grab my camera, make it outside (without scaring it away!) and take a photograph.  Well, as you can see, I did!  This sweet creature just sat there patiently waiting for me and as soon as I snapped the picture, off it went.  Definitely a serendipitous moment!

This has to be one of my favorite necklaces I’ve ever made.  The Sacred Heart image of Mary is breathtaking.

I’m still adorning my new found love, copper!  The variation of colors I can create with it are so beautiful.  I love how it looks with the greens and golds in this necklace.

On the reverse of the pendant is an ethereal script of Holy words.

I have hand forged all the copper pieces and all the lovely gems are hand wired together.  They include, Citrine, Fluorite, AA Moonstone, Moss Aquamarine and Tourmaline.  Gorgeous!

Dangling gracefully from moss green silk is an old French Crucifix with a curious bend.  I think it adds an interesting bit of character to this treasure.

The Beloved Necklace is available in my etsy shop, Objects of Devotion.

Happy Independence Day!

As every schoolchild can tell you, it was on this day in 1776 that the “Declaration of Independence” was signed by the Founding Fathers.  The odd thing about this is that we didnt actually win our Independence from Britain until 1783!  So, we aren’t really celebrating the gaining of our Freedom but our stated Intention to have it.

This strikes me as a very important distinction.  For it is in our declaring of our desires that we begin to set them in motion.  It is so important to take the time to formulate clearly what you want and why you want it.  So often, we get caught up in what we don’t want in our lives and spend a lot of time trying to ‘fix’ it or just complaining about everything that is going ‘wrong’.  But what if instead we took the time to think about what it is that we actually want to happen, or to be, or to do, or to have?  This is a great day to reflect on the new directions you’d like to steer your life.  Clarifying your wishes is an important first step which will start you on the path to gaining your own personal sense of Freedom.  So, pull out a piece of paper (or your trusty typewriter!) and set to writing down your own “Declaration”!
