Sweet Mary

February 10, 2012

A sweet vintage Holy Card image of a young Mary is the focal point of  this assemblage bracelet.

Old beautiful blue discarded rosary beads and ancient rosary centers come back to life here.

I cut the curved glass for the charm from an old bottle.

A large Drusy Pearl, a Moss Aquamarine gem and two petite Yellow Sapphires perfectly reflect the gold and blues in the Holy Card.

You can find the Sweet Mary bracelet in my Objects of Devotion etsy shop, here.

Miraculous Mary

December 18, 2011

I wanted to share this very special necklace I’ve just completed.

A gorgeous vintage French Miraculous Medal is the focal point of this lovely piece.

A wonderfully patinaed Crucifix dangles from the clasp.

I have used soft pink and neutral tones to create an ethereal look.

Beautiful freshwater pearls, in pinks, peaches and silvers represent the ultimate in femininity.

Moonstone, Natural Rock Crystal, Labradorite, Rose Quartz and hand-aged Sterling Silver complete this charming adornment!  This treasure has been spoken for, but please visit my etsy shop for more enchanting jewelry!

Heaven and Earth

July 18, 2011

holy1

Heaven and Earth come together in this beautiful necklace.

holy2

A wonderful selection of rough cut Citrine, Green Fluorite and Baroque Freshwater Pearls enhance the deep amber of the old religious medal. A handmade vintage-look charm with the word “Faith” on one side and “Believe” on the other acts as a clasp. A hand fashioned sterling silver hook slips into the charm to secure the necklace. Aged sterling silver wire ties it all together. This necklace is completely reversible.

holy3

On one side is an image of Mary as she appeared in an apparition to Catherine Laboure as a young nun in a French convent in 1830.

holy4

On the other side, “Ite Ad Joseph” … Go to Joseph

The Heaven and Earth necklace can be found in my etsy shop, Objects of Devotion.

Pretty In Pink

June 9, 2011

1858, France.  While collecting firewood for her impoverished family, fourteen year old Bernadette Soubirous first saw the Apparition of Mary in the Grotto of Massabielle, outside of Lourdes. She recalled how a beautiful woman had appeared to her and said to her that she was the “Immaculate Conception”. The young Bernadette would see the Apparition of Mary a further seventeen times. Today Lourdes is one of the most popular pilgrimages in France for the faithful. Many claim the waters of Lourdes have miraculous healing powers.

Two lovely vintage French Our Lady of Loudes medals dangle gracefully from hand fashioned sterling silver hoops.

prettyinpink4

Pretty Pink Tourmaline and Garnet gemstones add a feminine touch.  Both are metaphysically known to strongly attract love …

Wedding Rosaries

May 5, 2011

Recently, I’ve had the great pleasure of working with a lovely Bride  making “His and Hers” rosary chaplets for them to carry on their wedding day!

rosaries2

The Groom’s name is Peter and this is a secret gift for him (shhhhh!).  I was able to find a wonderful French antique Saint Peter medal and a vintage French Crucifix for the focal pieces.

rosaries4

To keep with her desired neutral palette for him I used Rock Crystal, Rainbow Moonstone, Labradorite and Baroque French Pearls as the gems for his rosary.

rosaries3

rosaries5

I think the effect is wonderful, it manages to be contemporary and old world at the same time, truly timeless!  I hand aged the sterling silver wire to complete the old look.

As a final touch his Bride wanted to add some personalization, so I made a soldered charm bearing her message of love … so romantic!

rosaries10

The Bride’s rosary chaplet features a lovely aged Miraculous Medal and an antique French Our Lady of Lourdes cross that is so gorgeous I could barely part with it!

rosaries11

rosaries12

The gems are like antique lace in rock form … Citrine, Golden Rutilated Quartz, and Baroque Freshwater Pearls all wired together with gently aged sterling silver.

I soldered a custom charm for hers also, with the wedding date and the names of the Bride and Groom.

As a finishing touch, I made two keepsake boxes for their rosaries.

Have a lovely day Ginny and Peter and a long and happy life together !!
