Lately, I have been busy working on developing some new techniques to use in my jewelry!

I’ve started using copper in my designs.  I love the rich colors and the variations of patina I can create with it!

In this lovely bracelet I used a gorgeous beautiful image of Mary and the Infant Jesus.

Shades of purple contrast beautifully with the subtle tones of the Holy image and the aged copper.

A pretty selection of gems which include Amethyst, Fluorite and Moss Amethyst are hand wired together with patina’d copper.  Beautifully worn, vintage rosary beads and lush silk ribbon add an old world feel.  A hand forged copper clasp completes this treasure.

The reverse is just as enchanting, with an ethereal script of Divine words.

You may find this Heavenly bracelet in my etsy shop, Objects of Devotion, here.

As you may know I love my garden.  Roses and flowers come pretty easily to me, but vegetables remain somewhat elusive.  My desire for raised beds brimming over with lush homegrown heirloom vegetables is peaked every spring as I start thumbing through the gardening magazines.  With the best of intentions, I carefully plant my little seeds and dream of all the delicious veggies I’ll soon be harvesting.   But sadly, it hasn’t yet worked out that way!   This year the slugs and snails decimated a good portion of my seedlings and a serious heat wave in May took its toll as well.   So, my little kitchen plot is a little bit of an underachiever in my mind.  But happily, a few plants did make it through and I was really pleased to be able to pick a handful of tomatoes this morning!

Happy Mother’s Day!

May 13, 2012

“…to have a child… is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”

~Elizabeth Stone

Being a Mother is a strange combination of the most momentous and the most mundane thing you will ever do.  It is cooking and cleaning and nagging with such repetition as to be mind numbing.  But the significance of nurturing and loving in such a deep and profound way cannot be overstated, it leaves you forever altered.  Without question, being a Mother is the most meaningful endeavor of my life and I feel so Blessed to have my two beautiful daughters.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Pub Crawl

April 3, 2012

The Lord of the Manor loves Pubs.

And who can blame him?

Gorgeous old buildings overflowing with charm and character.

Delicious drinks, yummy food and always a welcoming atmosphere.

Living in California we’re a little short on the Pub front so when we visit England, it’s all Pubs all the time!

These are just a few of the ones we visited on our last trip!

This is a bit of a sad sight …  It’s the Lord of the Manor’s ultimate Pub which unfortunately was destroyed in a fire last year.  But happily it’s being rebuilt and we can’t wait to visit The Pandora when it’s been restored to its former glory!

Only in England!

I hope you enjoyed the Pub Crawl!  Thanks for visiting!

Cheeky Little Bird

March 10, 2012

This sweet little Warbler came by to say ‘hello’.

It was cheerfully eating aphids off of my roses …

not the least bit bothered at having its picture taken!

It’s so lovely to see more birds in the garden.  Spring will be here soon!

Sweet Mary

February 10, 2012

A sweet vintage Holy Card image of a young Mary is the focal point of  this assemblage bracelet.

Old beautiful blue discarded rosary beads and ancient rosary centers come back to life here.

I cut the curved glass for the charm from an old bottle.

A large Drusy Pearl, a Moss Aquamarine gem and two petite Yellow Sapphires perfectly reflect the gold and blues in the Holy Card.

You can find the Sweet Mary bracelet in my Objects of Devotion etsy shop, here.
